NIÑOS EN KOMBATE

Although N.E.K has just over one year of existence, their history in gigs is already respectable.

Since their first live show in March 2008, which was with the great two- piece band Battletorn from New York, the group has had a number of invitations to play around Japan. Some of these invitations had to be declined, due to the members outside activities that include work, playing in different bands and running a DIY label.

It all started in December 2007 when Rafael ( ex-Nomares and former Darge bassist) contacted Maurício who was also past member of Nomares, to start a new band that could sound like Brazilian old punk. The band needed one more piece to take care of the band´s beats, as they had always been participating in the Nagoya punk & hardcore scene, it took only a few days to find a drummer.

Naito- san (ex-Out of Touch, Atrocity Exhibition, Nausea, Unholy Grave and former C.F.D.L member), joined the band with his ultra-fast Japanese style to combine with Brazilian punk screams and the metallic sound of a thrash-fan guitarist.

The first month was a struggle to put everything together in the studio, so as the band started to feel the N.E.K style, they decided that the band would need one more member to let Rafael feel more comfortable with the vocals and performances on stage.

A young punk who was frequently at the shows and had played in some local Brazilian hardcore bands, was contacted to play the four-strings weapon. Mini (former Kaos-trofobia) accepted the invitation and started practicing with the band in January 2008.

In May of 2008, the band got in the studio to record 14 songs, 2 of them which were covers of Brazilian 80´s legend bands: Olho Seco and Garotos Podres.

The first 6 song Ep released in July by Too Circle Records (Tokyo), was defined by some media as raw-thrash punk with metallic influences. It was reviewed by many blogs, webzines and magazines. One of them by Martin Sorrondeguy (Limp Wrist singer) from Maximum Rock´n´Roll, which had the opportunity to play with them in his last Limp Wrist Japan tour, mentioned in his review the similarity of N.E.K with the mid-era of R.D.P (Ratos de Porao).

The band had a busy year in 2008,playing with many important bands from the underground scene (Battletorn, Hit Me Back, Limp Wrist, Unholy Grave, Vivisick, Fuck on the Beach, Crucial Section, Nice View, Ada+Max, Think Brigade, C.O.P, etc.) and working on their other releases like the split-tape with Septix (Karasu Killer Recs, a compilation with other bands from Nagoya called Banned in Nagoya vol.2 (Depression Recs.) and the split-cd with ADA+MAX (Hardcore Kitchen Recs.).

Niños en Kombate plan to be busy again in 2009.They´ll be playing in Tokyo for the EP celebration with C.O.P and Crucial Section in January, then playing in the Gifu area and Tokyo in March, back in Nagoya to share stage with Voetsek (U.S.A) in April and being part of the Hellsakura (from Brazil) Japan tour in their hometown Nagoya in May.

in may of 2009 our bassist Mini left Japan and the band due to the economic crisis, the four strings now are played by Ozarin (ex-Flash Gordon vocals).

According to the band members they´ll be going back to the studio to record more material soon.

Some of their future releases will be split with D.F.C (from Brazil) and Unholy Grave(Japan).

and our first full leight expected to be out next year!

NIÑOS EN KOMBATE ³Niños en Kombate² 7’EP
Brazilian transplants living in Nagoya, Japan. I got to see this band live
and I must say they hold true to their roots. NIÑOS EN KOMBATE plays
aggressive hardcore punk with metallic influences. Their sound is
reminiscent of mid-era RATOS DE PORAO. Nice and chaotic shit here.

All songs are sung in Portuguese. Cool.
