In June 2002, the neighbors of a long-haired, tattooed rocker watched the end of what then, they called peace. It was the first rehearsal of a band called Halé. The noise came from a wooden shack, played with the worst possible equipment, brought in a wheelbarrow for about 200 meters.

Coming from that shack, they should sound like samba masters, but what was coming through the ears of people sounded more like Bad Brains and Black Flag ghosts. Yet, it was only Halé, in their most honest form, which is playing and having fun. Songs with an urgent speed + jarring and mocking vocals + choruses.  And added to all that there’s beer, few chords and much fun. That was how their demo cd, “Músicas Pra Quem Tem A Mãe Na Zona” [Songs For People Who Have Their Mothers in Whorehouses] (2004) was born. Free from any agenda, because in it, there was nothing more than songs for people who have their mothers in whorehouses. The cover artwork, was done by none other than guitar player Herbert’s four-year-old sister, and the demo cd has songs like “Cheirando Cola e Ouvindo Maicon Jeguisson” and “Índio Não Caga no Piniquim”. Time went by and things evolved (or did they?), but Halé was still the same: no cool looks, no pointing fingers, and meeting at Perninha’s to drink some beers and listen to Dicró and Bezerra da Silva, two major influences.
Thus, came the first real album, “Lixo Extraordinário” [Extraordinary Trash] (2007), in a joint effort by Karasu Killer from Japan, and Brazilian labels Tamborete Entertainment, Antdiscos, Ah Danada, Abunai and União & Resistência. A more mature release, proving to be further from labeling. Hardcore, punk, ska, rock’n’roll, circus music and even axé are the ingredients in the new album. Hardcore that doesn’t want to teach you anything, neither save the world, hardcore just for fun. Lyrics that mockingly question things, written by a human being like any other. In case you find a positive message in the lyrics, use it, because as it says on the cd: “May fun and information be transmitted cohesively, as in a subliminal message…. Have fun!
